End of a series of successful Workshops in Donniyeh

 

With its partners Mercy Corps and the Maharat Foundation, Peace Labs successfully implemented a series of trainings on Conflict Analysis and Transformation, and on Mediation in the following 6 municipalities in Donniyeh in North Lebanon: Syr, Assoun, Kfarhabu, Izal, Bakhoun and Bakaasefrin.

The trainings targeted 134 persons (22 persons on average per locality) representing local Lebanese communities, representatives of the participating municipalities and of the Syrian refugee communities. These trainings are part of the GCAP project funded by the EU and aiming at involving local communities in solving conflicts peacefully and at implementing joint communal projects to develop and strengthen local peace and improve the operational capacities of municipalities and improve cooperation amongst. It is to be noted that this project is implemented through the Union of Municipalities of Donniyeh.

 

The training took place over 4 days and included the following:

Day 1: Building the initial rapport

Day 2: Effective communication and group work

Day 3: Defining and understanding conflict and dealing with it

Day 4: Mediation and positive negotiation
